Carmen Villa Belledo, 90, of Pahala died Sept. 5 at Ka‘u Hospital. Born in Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she retired from Ka‘u Sugar Company and was a member of the former Pahala Methodist Church. Private services held. Survived by daughter, Jane (Leslie) Perry of Keaau; son, Jarry (Christine) Belledo of California; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Nida Valiente Gervacio, 57, of Keaau died Sept. 15 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a registered nurse at the Ka‘u Hospital in Pahala. Friends may call today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Visitation from 8-10 a.m. Celebration of Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by husband, Dominador M. Gervacio of Keaau; mother, Dolores Valiente of Philippines; sister, Cecelia (Frederick) Valiente of Florida; brothers, Nicasio Valiente and Rubina Valiente of Milan, Italy; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Philip Bruce Neal, 64, of Hakalau died Sept. 8 at Pohai Malama. Born in Wichita, Kansas, he was a contractor and the co-proprietor of the former Art Mart on Alii Drive. Private ceremony and burial at sea to take place in October on the Kona side. Survived by spouse, Karin Novak-Neal of Hakalau; daughter, Ashleigh (Luke) Neal Margheim of Ninoole; brothers, John Neal of Ohio and Dan Neal of Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews. Edward “Ed” Pereira, 88, of Hilo died Sept. 15 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was proprietor of many apartments in Hilo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps (World War II) and also was a captain in the Civil Air Patrol in Hilo. Friends may call on Tuesday, with visitation from 9-10 a.m. Services/celebration of life at 10 a.m. Casual attire. No flowers. Burial at noon at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2.
